Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Suresh Kumar has directed officials to complete beautification works of the city for the upcoming CII Partnership Summit, scheduled to be held on November 14 and 15.
Mr Suresh Kumar visited the city on Wednesday and inspected the ongoing works along with GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg at various locations including the Airport Road, Thatichetlapalem Junction, Railway New Colony, Telugu Thalli Flyover, AU Engineering College Road, Siripuram, the main venue area of the summit, Lawsons Bay Colony, Park Hotel Junction, YMCA, RK Beach Junction and other places. He reviewed the progress on road and footpath repairs, painting works, greenery development on medians and islands, lighting, and wall paintings.
After the inspection, the Principal Secretary held a review meeting at the VMRDA Conference Hall along with District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor professor Rajashekar, and senior officials from GVMC and VMRDA to discuss progress on the CII Summit-related development works.
Mr Suresh Kumar said that the delegates and business leaders from India and abroad would attend the summit, hence the city must be made visually attractive and clean. He observed that some roads and the AU Engineering College grounds had visible waste, and directed the Andhra University and GVMC to immediately take up joint sanitation drives around the summit venue. He instructed the AU Vice-Chancellor to clear excess bushes and weeds in the area.
