Kenny Loggins is speaking out against President Donald Trump's use of his song "Danger Zone" in an AI video responding to widespread No Kings protests.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, the president took to Truth Social to share an AI-generated video showing him in a fighter jet dumping what appeared to be fecal matter on demonstrators who gathered to protest his administration's policies. The video, clearly invoking "Top Gun," was set to the movie's headlining track, "Danger Zone," by Loggins.
In response, Loggins said in a statement shared with USA TODAY on Monday, Oct. 20 that he objected to the use of his song and that no one had sought permission.
"This is an unauthorized use of my performance of 'Danger Zone.' Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied," he said. "I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately."
"I can't imagine why anybody would want their music used or associated with something created with the sole purpose of dividing us," he continued. "Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together."
