Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The world's richest turf race in Australia, a potential "race of the year" on the British Champions Day program at Ascot and the Grade 1 Shuka Sho in Japan make up a five-star, three-ring circus in weekend horse racing.

When that's all done, pre-entries for the Breeders' Cup World Championships are due Monday. And racing returned Thursday to King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

On the news front, Churchill Downs has tinkered again with the makeup of its "Road to the Kentucky Derby" program and the New York Racing Association has passed a milestone on the road to the new Belmont Park.
