Madurai City Police have announced various regulations for heavy and light cargo vehicles around Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple from October 17 to 20 in view of Deepavali shopping season.

A statement said that no cargo vehicles would be allowed during day time on Friday to enter Mahal Road, East Marret Street, four Masi Streets and four Aavani Moola Streets. Similarly, cargo vehicles would not be allowed to enter the city thorugh By-pass Road, Kamarajar Salai, Anna Nagar 80 Feet Road, K. K. Nagar 80 Feet Road, Alagarkoil Road, New Natham Road, Dindigul Road, Avaniyapuram, Sivaganga Road and Melur Road. Cargo vehicles would be allowed on these roads between 11 p.m. on Friday till 6 a.m. on Saturday, and no cargo vehicles would be allowed on the city roads throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Only two-wheelers

On Saturday and Sunday, only two-wheelers would be allowed to enter Netaji Road, West Masi Street, South Masi Street, East Masi Street, West Aavani Moola Street, East Aavani Moola Street, and South Aavani Moola Street. Even entry of two-wheelers would be banned, if need arose, the statement said.
