Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday clashed with a pro-Donald Trump reporter who claimed the lawmaker was somehow to blame for the deadly U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
Alison Steinberg, a correspondent for election conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell’s outlet LindellTV, confronted the former House speaker outside the Capitol and asked if she feared a new House committee could find her “liable for that day” when a mob of Trump supporters, incited by the president himself, stormed the building. Pelosi, the speaker of the house on the day of the attack, initially walked away.
But after Steinberg shouted, “Why did you refuse the National Guard on Jan. 6?”, she quickly turned back and responded: “Shut up. I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points as if you’re a serious journalist?”
Pelosi then walked off.
