The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, on Tuesday inaugurated the “Live Cases” dashboard under the Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS), designed to provide real-time data visualisation of court cases and offer an overview of upcoming hearings to enable proactive decision-making and better inter-ministerial coordination.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurated the dashboard, describing it as “a significant step towards enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government litigation management.”
A government communiqué said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised the need to reduce litigation, and since the Government of India is one of the largest litigants, the LIMBS platform was implemented to monitor court cases in a “systematic, proactive and efficient manner.”
According to official data, the LIMBS portal currently tracks 7,23,123 live cases from 53 ministries and departments. A total of 13,175 ministry users and 18,458 advocates regularly update case details on the portal.
“The initiative marks a milestone in the Government’s digital transformation journey, reinforcing its commitment to leveraging technology for efficient legal case management, data-driven insights, and improved governance outcomes,” the government statement said.
