Amid the demand for action against the key accused in Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar’s alleged suicide case, the Haryana government has sent Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on leave, even as the additional charge has been given to Om Parkash Singh.
A Haryana government Home department order, dated October 14, said the additional charge of DGP has been assigned to Om Parkash Singh, IPS, currently Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, during the leave period of Shatrujeet Singh Kapur.
Rajiv Jaitly, media adviser to the Haryana Chief Minister, confirmed the development to The Hindu on Tuesday. “The DGP has been sent on leave. The formal order would be out soon,” he said.

It’s the eighth day since Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar allegedly died by suicide from a gunshot wound, yet his autopsy remains pending — the deceased officer’s family has refused to allow the postmortem to proceed until two key accused in the case — Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur and former Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya are arrested. The State government had already transferred Narendra Bijarniya, the then Rohtak’s Superintendent of Police.
