Republican Rep. Buddy Carter (Ga.) said he is introducing a resolution to “honor” President Donald Trump with the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize — a befuddling move since the award is granted by a committee whose members are chosen by the Norwegian Parliament.

Carter and others in the MAGA orbit campaigned for Trump, only for the award to go to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

“Listen, Donald Trump is the president of peace, and no one could have gotten us to this point that he’s gotten us to,” Carter said on Friday’s airing of Fox Business’ “Varney & Co.”

Carter went on to attack former President Joe Biden and his administration, claiming that they “didn’t even try to achieve peace in the Middle East.”

“Donald Trump has done that, and I applaud him for that,” Carter told host Stuart Varney. “That’s why he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, and that’s why I’m introducing a resolution for a sense of Congress today that will honor him with the Nobel Peace Prize, and if need be, we’ll call for a discharge petition on that.”
