A stormy few days are on tap for much of the East Coast and the Southwest United States as a pair of storms bring a variety of nasty weather.
Along the Atlantic Coast, a developing nor'easter is forecast to wreak havoc from the Southeast to the Mid-Atlantic, and likely the Northeast, over the weekend and into early next week.
Confidence is increasing the east coast storm will have significant coastal impacts, bringing "a myriad of hazards," especially from the Carolinas northward, the National Weather Service said in Oct. 10 forecasts. Coastal flooding and high surf, compounded by seasonal high tides, with dangerous rip currents and gusty winds are all expected.
And in the Southwest, tropical moisture from former Hurricane Priscilla will contribute to a multi-day thunderstorm, widespread heavy rainfall and flash flooding event across the region. Flash flooding will be particular concern in burn scars, slot canyons and urban areas, according to the weather service.
Western Alaska could also experience coastal flooding and high winds as yet another tropical system winds up in the region.
