A 19-year-old student of Malla Reddy University was found dead in the boys’ hostel on Thursday (October 9, 2025) afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Sandanala Leela Naga Vinay Durga, a native of Chintalapalli village in East Godavari district, was a first-year student of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) department.
According to police, Vinay attended classes in the morning and returned to the hostel for lunch around 12.30 p.m. When the hostel warden Rajendra was checking rooms around 2 p.m., he found the door of room number 010 locked from inside. After repeated knocks went unanswered, he peered through the ventilator and saw Vinay’s body.
The warden immediately alerted the university management, and the door was broken open. The student was rushed to Malla Reddy Hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following a complaint, the Petbasheerabad police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
