The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be rolling out a new software application to simplify the disposal of unwanted household items. The software, developed by Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), will be launched on October 20, BSWML CEO Karee Gowda said on Thursday.
Mr. Gowda said that the initiative is part of Bengaluru’s waste management system and that the software will allow residents to dispose of bulky and unwanted household items in a systematic and convenient manner.
Large scale waste recyclers present at the meeting also proposed measures to make the disposal system more efficient, by taking measures like creating a centralised storage system for bulky items like sofas and beds before redistribution to recyclers. They also suggested finding solutions to reduce high transportation costs and logistical challenges of moving small quantities of waste and identifying suitable storage location for bulk waste.
