A man who allegedly murdered his stepdaughter and her husband in a brutal knife attack walked into a police station and admitted to the killing on the night of the incident, a court has been told.

Derek Martin is accused of bludgeoning Chloe Bashford, 30, with a hammer and repeatedly stabbing her before then knifing her spouse Josh Bashford, 33, four times and strangling him to death with a ligature.

He has pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility but denies murder.

And grim footage shown to jurors at Brighton Crown Court sees Martin, who had been depressed in the run up to the killings and had felt 'used' by the couple who owed him hundreds of pounds, handing himself into officers at Brighton Police Station.

A bodycam records the alleged murderer, 67, walking into the station on a sunny evening in June 2023.
