A 27-year-old man from Pollachi was arrested for stabbing his wife to death in broad daylight on Thursday. C. Bharathi, a resident of Marapettai Street at Pollachi, was arrested for murdering his wife Swetha, 26, said the police.According to the police, Bharathi and Swetha got married nine years ago and the couple has two children. Bharathi had been harbouring suspicions about his wife’s fidelity for about six months, often resulting in quarrels between them. Swetha had been living separately for the past one month, allegedly due to repeated quarrels with husband, said the police.Bharathi confronted Swetha on Panalaniappan Street at Pollachi around 9 a.m. on Thursday, when she was heading to her workplace from her residence on ABT Road. He quarrelled with his wife on the road and stabbed her with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries on her back, hip and abdomen.Onlookers alerted the police and rushed the injured woman to the District Headquarters Hospital, Pollachi. She, however, died before reaching the hospital. The body was shifted to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital, Coimbatore, for post-mortem examination.The Pollachi east police registered a case against Bharathi.
