The Trichy-Palpannai-Thuvakudi Service Road Meetpu Kootamaippu has appealed to the authorities to provide a halt at Palpannai near Ariyamangalam in the city for mofussil buses operated from the new Kalaignar Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur.“Providing a halt at Palpannani for mofussil buses passing through the junction would greatly help people living in residential colonies and institutions situated along the busy Tiruchi-Thanjavur National Highway,” association president S. Subramanian and general secretary K. Rajendran said in a representation submitted to Mayor M. Anbazhagan recently.Several industries, including Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and institutions such as the National Institute of Technology are situated along the Thanjavur NH stretch. This apart, residents from contiguous areas such as Keezha Kalkandarkottai and Ambikapuram would also benefit if a halt was provided at Palpannai for mofussil buses operating from Panjapur to Chennai, Bengaluru, and other destinations, the federation said.Apart from providing a halt, it should also be notified as a boarding point for the purpose of making advance reservations in the mofussil buses, they said.
