Sir Lenny Henry has claimed all black Britons should be paid slavery reparations.The comedian argues in a new book that the UK should hand over an unspecified amount of money to its black population because of the 'effects of slavery'.Writing in The Big Payback, Sir Lenny justifies this by saying that the reasons for modern-day racism can be traced back to the transatlantic slave trade.The book out tomorrow also claims reparations must 'dismantle the foundations' of western society built on slavery and racism and make 'new foundations'.It cites a figure from a Brattle Group report in 2023 claiming the UK owes £18trillion in payments to countries including to former colonies in the Caribbean.But what do you think – should the UK pay slavery reparations to its black population?
