Greta Thunberg isn’t letting President Donald Trump’s insults get to her.In fact, the Swedish climate and human rights activist turned the tables on the president in a Tuesday morning Instagram post, following the release of participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla who were captured by Israeli forces last week during their mission to deliver aid to Gaza.Laughing at Trump and his comments, Thunberg wrote, “I hear Donald Trump has once again expressed his flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concern for my mental health.”“I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so-called ‘anger management problems,’ since — judging by your impressive track record — you seem to be suffering from them too.”The president labeled Thunberg a “troublemaker” while talking to reporters about the flotilla.“She’s no longer into the environment now. She has an anger management problem,” he said. “I think she should see a doctor. Have you ever watched her? She’s a young person. She’s so angry, she’s so crazy.”Greta Thunberg speaks to the press after she arrives in Greece on Monday, after being released from Israeli custody following the Global Sumud Flotilla's efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.Milos Bicanski via Getty ImagesThunberg’s outrage seemed more than appropriate given the conditions other flotilla participants claimed she had to endure while in Israeli custody.Turkish participant Ersin Çelik told the press that upon their capture, Israeli forces “dragged little Greta by her hair, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag as a warning to others.”This is far from the first time the 22-year-old’s activist advocacy has gotten under Trump’s skin. After Thunberg’s first failed mission to deliver aid to the people of Gaza back in June, he labeled her “strange” and “angry.”Thunberg took Trump’s slight in stride at the time, telling the press, “I think the world needs many more young angry women, to be honest. Especially with everything going on right now. That’s the thing we need the most of.”Back when she addressed the United Nations about the urgency of the climate crisis during his first term, the president mocked the impassioned champion of the environment as a “very happy young girl.” Close
