Latest government data is dashing expectations that India would provide an engine for global jet fuel demand growth this year. Six months into India’s fiscal year, jet fuel stands out as the only laggard among major transport fuels. Diesel demand bounced back and climbed by over 6% in September from a year earlier, while gasoline use increased by 7.5%. But aviation fuel usage declined by 1.3% to 188,000 barrels per day last month from 191,000 b/d a year earlier, according to data from Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell.
