New Delhi: Petrol sales rose 8.6% and diesel by 9.4% year-on-year in July, driven by increased mobility, stronger vehicle sales, and accelerated economic activity. Jet fuel sales, however, fell 1.4%, and cooking gas (LPG) by 17.4%, according to the oil ministry's provisional data. LPG sales are under constraint since the start of the Iran war on February 28 due to supply disruptions. Jet fuel demand has also been under pressure as higher fuel costs inflated airfares, impacting air travel demand.
