A 11-month-old baby boy was killed after being run over by a car in front of his house in Gollarahatti on Magadi Road-Nice road junction on Monday (October 6, 2025).
The deceased, Mohammed Umar Farooq, was playing in front his house while his mother was busy in daily chores. The owner of the house, a cab driver identified as Swamy, was reversing the vehicle to go to work and allegedly failed to notice the baby playing and ran over him. The father of the boy, also a driver by profession, had gone to work at the time of the incident.
The baby sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Based on the eye-witness account, the Kamakshipalya traffic police charged Swamy with death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving for further investigation.
