The search-cum-selection committees constituted by the Supreme Court will commence interviews for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors for APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and Digital University Kerala (DUK) in Thiruvananthapuram on October 8.The committees, chaired by former Supreme Court judge Sudhanshu Dhulia, had been tasked with overseeing the selection process.The interviews for applicants for the Vice Chancellor’s post at KTU will be held on October 8 and 9, while those for DUK are scheduled for October 10 and 11. The Higher Education department is learnt to have issued notices to nearly 60 candidates to appear for the interviews.Each of the two committees includes four members, with two each nominated by the State government and the Chancellor for inclusion in the panels.The Supreme Court had ordered that the recommendations of the committees be submitted to the Chief Minister, who can then recommend the shortlisted candidates in a specific order of preference within two weeks. While the Chancellor will be required to make the appointments in the same order of preference, he will also be able to express reservations against the empanelled names.
