Angela Rayner has been accused of a 'shameless' waste of public money after her taxpayer-funded bodyguards ferried her partner around in an £80,000 car and helped move belongings into her second home.
Pictures published exclusively in the Mail on Sunday show two close-protection officers helping Ms Rayner's on-off partner Sam Tarry move bags and boxes in a BMW X5 between their two homes.
The highly trained security experts and their specialised SUV are paid for from the public purse to protect Ms Rayner at a cost of thousands of pounds a day.
The former Deputy Prime Minister was nowhere to be seen as the bodyguards drove Mr Tarry and a series of boxes from her £800,000 seaside flat in Hove, East Sussex, to his £450,000 flat in Brighton around three miles away.
Ms Rayner's spokesman confirmed the protection officers helped Mr Tarry move 'a small number' of the former Cabinet minister's possessions and said they may have decided to do so for security reasons.
