Questioning the intention of the BJP-constituted NDA delegation that visited Karur following the stampede deaths at actor Vijay’s TVK political rally, DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday (October 3, 2025) charged that the visit was not an act of genuine concern, but a cheap attempt to gain political mileage ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.“Why is the BJP, which did not send a delegation for the Manipur violence, the Gujarat Morbi bridge collapse, or the deaths in the Maha Kumbh Mela stampede, promptly delegating a team to Karur?” Mr. Stalin asked in a social media post. “Certainly not concerned! It is outrightly a cheap act to garner political mileage for the 2026 polls.”The BJP, he alleged, was in the habit of riding on someone else’s back and was a “parasite” that “sucked others’ blood.” Mr. Stalin further charged that the BJP intended to use the Karur stampede to scout for ways to “keep someone under its control.”“Whichever mask you wear, no matter how many slaves you mobilise, or whoever you intend to include, as I said earlier, Tamil Nadu will always remain out of control for you!” Mr. Stalin said.
