A frightened "hello" was barely audible over the microphone. The full cruelty of the legal process was laid bare late in the afternoon on Thursday, October 2, during the trial of Cédric Jubillar before the criminal court of Albi, southern France. Jubillar stands accused of murdering his wife, Delphine. Cathy M. was the last witness of the day. As with every person who approached the stand, the presiding judge requested a "spontaneous statement."
