“Late Night” host Seth Meyers on Thursday called out Donald Trump’s “bullshit” claims that he knew “nothing” about Project 2025 after he talked up his meeting with a key architect of the Heritage Foundation’s right-wing policy blueprint for his second term.
The president took to Truth Social, where he referred to Russell Vought — the director of the Office of Management and Budget — as being “of PROJECT 2025 Fame,” adding that the two would determine which “Democrat Agencies” could see permanent cuts amid the government shutdown.
Meyers swiftly slammed Trump for bragging about Vought’s ties to the “massively toxic and unpopular right-wing wishlist” before airing a clip of the president claiming that he never — and “purposely” didn’t desire to — read it.
“Yeah, man, we knew you weren’t going to read it,” Meyers quipped.
He continued to rip the president for “openly admitting that he lied” on the campaign trail last year.
