A migrant who admitted assaulting four people at an asylum hotel where he was a resident has expressed a desire to return to Syria, a court has heard.
Mohammed Sharwarq, 32, was a resident of the Bell Hotel in Epping, Essex, where he attacked two fellow residents and two staff members in July and August of this year.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault and four of assault by beating, and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Terence Newman said Sharwarq slapped a resident on the back, kicked him in the back of the neck and punched him in the face in three separate incidents.
He said Sharwarq also slapped another resident in the back, punched a cleaner in the arm and grabbed a chef before trying to slap them in the face.
