Premier Giorgia Meloni told a Calabrian regional election rally Tuesday that she hoped fr a united vote in parliament between the government and the opposition on the US peace plan for Palestine.
"On Thursday, there will be motions in the Chamber addressing the Palestinian issue: I would like Italy to vote united to demonstrate that we truly want peace," said Meloni in Lamezia Terme, closing the centre-right rally for Roberto Occhiuto's re-election as governor of Calabria.
"Peace won't come because (CGIL trade union leader Maurizio) Landini calls a strike, because the USB (grass-roots union) calls a strike, because magistrates read the press releases before the hearings.
"It will come if someone," she said, raising her voice, "works at the tables where serious proposals need to be developed, and I would really like us to work together on this."
