The heavy rainfall is attributed to the remnants of Hurricane Humberto and Hurricane Imelda, which are sweeping across the Atlantic. Persistent rain will develop from Wednesday, initially affecting Northern Ireland, western Scotland, and north-west England, with the South and East remaining drier. Later in the week, wind and rain are expected to spread more widely across the UK, with a possibility of very strong winds from Friday into Saturday.
