A building contractor who fell through a skylight at a children's play centre has died of his injuries.David Linyard was working on the roof of Play2Day in Martlesham, near Ipswich in Suffolk, when he fell through an opening in the roof on June 23.Mr Linyard was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment but has since died of his injuries.Britpark Leisure LTD, which owns Play2Day, said in a statement: 'We were informed by the family of Mr David Linyard that he had tragically died of injuries sustained in an accident whilst carrying out routine maintenance on the roof of our Play2Day children's play centre at Martlesham Heath, Ipswich.'Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with his friends and family.'Suffolk Police, East Suffolk Council and the Health and Safety Executive are conducting the investigation.A police spokesperson said of Mr Linyard: 'The man involved sadly died in hospital at a later date.'The coroner was notified and the joint investigation involving Suffolk Police, East Suffolk Council and the Health & Safety Executive continues.' 'Police have primacy and (East Suffolk District Council) have the authority for enforcing the company in control of the building.'East Suffolk Council added that it was continuing its investigations. A spokesperson said: 'While the Council is the enforcing authority for the site operator, the police have primacy over investigations into this incident.'Play2Day, which is home to an inflatable play area and laser tag arena, was closed for scheduled maintenance at the time. It remains shuttered while an investigation into the tragedy takes place. Britpark said earlier this month that it hopes to reopen the centre 'very soon'.It wrote on social media last week: 'The safety and well-being of children and families who come to enjoy the facilities at our Play2Day play centre at Martlesham Heath, Ipswich, is and always has been our main priority.'Since the accident that occurred whilst contractors were carrying out planned maintenance to the roof in June, we have been working closely with the local authority to ensure that remediation works are carried out in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.'This has proven more complicated than expected, so we decided it was best to temporarily close the centre in order to facilitate the necessary work.'The firm added that it was working 'closely' with local authorities on the investigation.
