Adasivayal villagers in Sivaganga staged a protest outside District Collector office here on Monday demanding repair of the village roads.The villagers alleged the road had not been repaired for more than 15 years now.The 7-km village road which branches off from the road from Devakottai to Kottur at Nainavayal connects Parambakudi.The particular branch road would be used by people from 10 villages, including Adasivayal, Sendalpiriyan, Thalaikkudi, Kallurani, and Sirumadai.Of the 7-km road, the 3-km stretch of this road from Nainavayal to Adasivayal has not been repaired for 15 years and is in a severely dilapidated condition, complained road users.S. Selvam, one of the protesters, said mud from the banks of the Kottur tank is spread across the road.“During the rainy season, vehicles using this road slip, leading to accidents. The local residents have been consistently submitting petitions demanding the road’s repair,” he added.“Officials took steps to repair the road.
