Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the coalition government saved at least ₹1,000 crore by purchasing power at low costs and bringing in the swapping system in coordination with other States. Besides, the refund of true-up charges amounting to ₹924 crore significantly reduced the burden on electricity consumers, he noted. These achievements should be highlighted along with the steep cut in GST rates that put more money at the disposal of the people thereby increasing their purchasing power, he told the TDP MPs, MLAs and leaders in a conference on Sunday (September 28). The CM said the government streamlined the power sector whereas the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) destroyed it by doing procurements at hefty prices, and taking other irrational decisions. Since the TDP-Jana Sena Party (JSP)-BJP alliance won the general elections in 2024, power was being purchased in advance at cheaper rates. The true-down charges approved by the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission on September 27 were in sharp contrast to the regime of true-up charges which broke the backs of the hapless consumers in 2019-24, he observed. Asserting that the people stand to gain when systems were managed properly and reforms effectively implemented, Mr. Naidu exhorted the elected representatives to do extensive campaigns on the successful delivery of Super Six promises, made at the time of 2024 elections, and the GST reforms which came as a festive bonanza for the people, especially the poor and the middle class. The State would incur revenue loss to some extent due to the GST rate rationalization but people would become economically stronger and their living standards were bound to improve.Further, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the Mega DSC recruitment drive was a grand success, like the implementation of Talli Ki Vandanam, Stree Sakthi, Annadata Sukhibhava, Deepam 2.0 and a host of other welfare schemes.Water supply to Kuppam through the Handri-Neeva canal was another accomplishment. The construction of Polavaram and other irrigation projects was going on a war footing, he observed. The elected representatives of the ruling parties should keep in touch with the people and solve their problems, Mr. Naidu said, while noting that the YSRCP was thriving on fake propaganda against the government.MLCs of YSRCP sought to malign the government in the Legislative Council even as its MLAs continued to boycott the Assembly as a face-saving tactic, having suffered their worst electoral debacle last year.Leaders of the TDP along with BJP and JSP leaders should expose the true colours of YSRCP, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu added.
