Batting for the inclusion of Ladakh under the sixth schedule, which is the key demand of protesters in the Union Territory, senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday (September 28, 2025) said that Ladakh’s people, culture and traditions were under attack from BJP and RSS.His remarks, posted on X, came in the aftermath of last week’s violence in Leh in which four people were killed in firing by security forces and several others were injured. Authorities had since taken 50 people into custody for their alleged involvement in rioting.Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, the leading voice behind the demand for Ladakh’s Statehood, has been detained under the National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan.In his statement, Mr. Gandhi sharply criticised the BJP-led central government for its handling of the unrest. “Ladakhis asked for a voice.
