The Madras Medical Mission (MMM) observed World Heart Day 2025 on Saturday with a series of programs.A press release said that the campaign, held in alignment with the World Heart Federation, highlighted the importance of preventive cardiology and inclusive healthcare. A public awareness meeting was inaugurated by former Director General of Police Prateep V. Philip, I.P.S. (Retd.). He urged collective efforts to make heart-healthy choices more accessible in today’s fast-paced world.Jacob Jamesraj, Director of Cardiac Surgery, underlined the role of early intervention. “Understanding and controlling cardiovascular risk factors is essential to preventing heart disease before it begins,” he said.The program included an inter-school Heart Health Quiz, CPR training for schoolchildren led by Sumitra J., and a nutrition talk on healthy adolescent diets by dietician Preethi K. N.To reach underserved communities, MMM also deployed its Mobile Diagnostic Clinic, which offered free cardiac screenings such as ECG, echocardiography, treadmill tests and BMI checks.
