The police on Saturday (September 27, 2025) arrested eight persons, including local cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, whose call for a demonstration supporting the ‘I love Muhammed’ campaign led to a violent clash in Bareilly city of Uttar Pradesh the day before.Mr. Khan, the chief of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, had announced the protest on Islamia Ground on Friday, against alleged instances of derogatory remarks against the Prophet in different parts of the country, including Shahjahanpur, and against the Kanpur police action against people who carried “I Love Muhammed” banners during a recent Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession in Kanpur.
