A 55-year-old man suffered grievous injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant at Bommanampalayam near Kalveerampalayam in Coimbatore district on Thursday. The injured has been identified as Senthil, who works in a farm at Bommanampalayam.Forest Department officials said the incident took place around 7 p.m. when Senthil had an unexpected close encounter with a lone wild elephant that entered the farm, where he works and resides with his family. He was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Forest Department staff reached the spot after being alerted by farmers and started efforts to drive the elephant back to the forest.
