More than 100 cancer survivors took part in “World Rose Day” celebrations organised by MGM Cancer Institute on Wednesday.Singer Pop Shalini and actors Karunakaran, J. Livingston, Ramesh Khanna, and Darshan participated. M.A. Raja, director and senior consultant, Medical Oncology, MGM Cancer Institute, said, “World Rose Day is far more than a commemoration. It is a promise of hope, compassion, and togetherness. It is a day to embrace every patient with love, applaud every survivor’s resilience, and humbly appreciate every caregiver’s sacrifice. Cancer is a battle involving not just the patient, but the entire family.”Dr. Raja, along with Deenadayalan, head of Paediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, also shed light on the challenge that India faces, with approximately 75,000 children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer every year. With breakthroughs in targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and precision chemotherapy, many cancers are not just treatable – they are curable.
