Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday unveiled 81 development projects to upgrade and augment civic infrastructure across 50 villages in the Capital under the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan, which was launched by the former in December 2023.The projects are spread across five zones – Dwarka, Narela, Rohini, East, and North – and focused on revamping community halls, roads, parks, multipurpose centres, and rural infrastructure.Since its launch, 854 projects worth ₹760 crore have been sanctioned under the scheme. Of them, 156 are to be executed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the nodal agency for the scheme.Under the scheme, the government had extended PNG supply to 111 villages in the city in May this year.“Earlier governments had ignored villages and focused only on politics. Today, under the L-G’s guidance, concrete steps are being taken for rural development. If the country has to progress, development of villages is equally necessary,” Ms. Gupta said while addressing a gathering at Pooth Khurd, a village in north-west Delhi. She urged Mr. Saxena to ramp up efforts to roll out the Master Plan 2041. The draft plan was released by the DDA in 2021.“The new master plan must not only solve today’s problems but also secure the city’s future for the next 100 years. The Delhi government is ready to give its approval on a blank paper for anything that serves the interests of the city’s people,” she said. Published - September 25, 2025 01:33 am IST
