Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) held a review meeting with the heads of all departments and directed them to implement all projects mentioned in the annual budget within the stipulated timelines.The CM also directed the officials to expedite cleaning of drains, pending works in schools, and plantation drives before monsoon, as per a statement from her office.Departments that fail to properly utilise funds could face cuts in the next budget, warned Ms. Gupta, adding that her government’s priority is not limited to making announcements, but also to ensuring that every scheme reaches all the beneficiaries.She said preventing waterlogging remains a priority and no laxity in this regard would be accepted. Large-scale plantation drives should be undertaken in areas with high dust pollution, said the CM while underscoring the need for better coordination among various agencies.She also instructed the department heads to ensure timely whitewashing of government schools, repair of toilets, and clean drinking water for children. Ms. Gupta underlined the importance of providing students with a better and more dignified environment.Officials were also directed to accelerate schemes related to solar power and water conservation to make Delhi a model city in energy conservation and water management. “Social media should not remain limited to formal communication, but should also be used as an effective medium for promoting public welfare schemes and ensuring that accurate information reaches the public,” read an official statement.
