Minister of Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil emphasised the need to create a generation of medical professionals with humanity, compassion, and professionalism. “Medical education is not just about producing doctors, nurses, pharmacists, or researchers. We need to create a new generation with compassion, humanity, and professionalism along with knowledge,” Dr. Patil said.Speaking at the Teachers’ Day celebrations organised at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on Wednesday, he said, “Along with technical skills, those in the medical field should also develop communication skills and empathy. How doctors behave and deal with patients is also important. The medical field is a field where there is an opportunity for service along with profession.”“Karnataka is at the forefront in medical education and RGUHS is recognised as the best medical university in the entire country,” he said.Dr. Bhagwan B.C., Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, said, “Active partnerships have been developed with foreign universities to provide international opportunities to Indian students.” He said that many opportunities are being created to equip our students with global skills and meet the healthcare needs of India.“RGUHS is committed to empowering students and faculty and developing professional skills along with education and research.” He said that by joining hands with universities in England and other countries, it is intended to provide international opportunities to students and faculty of our university.
