The White House has condemned UN security and accused their staff of deliberately turning off escalators to embarrass President Trump before his furious speech to world leaders.
Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were forced to walk up an escalator on Tuesday when it suddenly stopped as the couple entered the UN headquarters in Manhattan.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt immediately cited a report by The Times on Sunday that noted UN staff had 'joked' that they could turn off the escalators and elevators in the building.
The pranksters reportedly planned to make Trump walk up the stairs, and 'simply tell him they ran out of money.'
'If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the president and first lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately,' Leavitt fumed in a post on X.
