Making Nigel Farage prime minister could lead to US-style school gun massacres in Britain, Ed Davey claimed today as he accused Reform of wanting to turn the UK into Trump's America.

The Liberal Democrat leader used his party conference speech to suggest Mr Farage would ease the UK's strict gun laws if he enters No10 after the next election.

In a wide-ranging speech that mentioned Mr Farage more than 30 times he said that putting him in charge would mean schools would have to 'teach our children what to do in case of a mass shooting'.

The party said that Sir Ed was referring to comments made by Mr Farage more than a decade ago ago, when he was the leader of UKIP.

In 2014 he said that the handgun ban brought in after the Dunblane massacre was 'ludicrous' and should be eased.
