The non-availability of water from Kannadiyan channel and accumulation of silt in canals carrying water to irrigation tanks is a hardship to farmers in Tirunelveli district who are faced with withering crops. The district administration should direct the officials concerned to desilt the water canals and accelerate water release from the Kannadiyan channel to reduce further loss for farmers.
