Graham Linehan has warned satire is dying and claims he would not be allowed to make a comedy like Father Ted today.
The Irish comedy writer, 57, has been a vocal critic about a free speech 'crackdown' in the UK after he was arrested by five armed police officers at Heathrow Airport over a series of 'anti-trans' tweets last month.
Linehan, who fled Britain and moved to the free speech enclave of Scottsdale, Arizona, was arrested on suspicion of 'inciting violence' in relation to three posts he had made on X in April while living in the US.
He previously shared screenshots of the posts he said he was arrested for, including one where he called it a 'violent, abusive act' for a trans-identified male to be in a female-only space.
In what he maintains was a joke, he added in the tweet: 'Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails punch him in the balls.'
