Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation on Sunday (September 21, 2025), at 5 p.m.

Though there is no official word on the subject of his address, it comes a day ahead of the reduced GST rates on about 375 items take effect. The GST Council, comprising Centre and States, has decided to reduce tax rates on goods and services, from September 22, 2025 — the first day of the Navaratri.

“GST 2.0 is a double dose of support and growth for the nation. Next generation reforms in GST have been done to support India’s progress in 21st century. I had promised a double dhamaka of happiness before this Deepavali and Chhath Puja,” Mr. Modi had said earlier.

Mr. Modi’s last address to the nation was on May 12, 2025, following India launching ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terrorist base camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
