Prices of everyday food products from cereal to cake bars and bread to beef mince have soared the most at supermarkets over the past year, the Daily Mail can reveal.
A 500g box of Asda 'Special Flakes' cereal had the biggest percentage rise of any product, from 99p to £1.84 – up 86 per cent, according to consumer group Which?.
The products in joint second were found in Tesco, both up 85 per cent from £1.49 to £2.75 - a five-pack of Maltesers cake bars and a five-pack of Galaxy cake bars.
The three next biggest risers were all at Asda - six soft white rolls, up 78 per cent from 85p to £1.51; a 37g Lindt Lindor milk chocolate truffles box, up 72 per cent from £1.15 to £1.98; and ten mild cheddar slices, also up 72 per cent from 65p to £1.12.
Experts tracked the prices of 27,000 products across the major supermarkets then compared them for the three months to the end of August 2024 and August 2025 – aiming to ensure their calculations took into account any temporary discounts.
