NThe historic Gole Market building, currently undergoing redevelopment into a museum dedicated to women achievers, is expected to be completed by February 2026, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) chairman Keshav Chandra said on Thursday.
As part of the ongoing ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ initiative, Mr. Chandra laid the foundation stone for the construction of a subway at Bhai Veer Singh Marg roundabout for ,afe and modern access to the upcoming museum.
“The NDMC is redeveloping the Gole Market building into a museum of national importance. To ensure convenient access for citizens, visitors, students, and tourists, a dedicated subway will be built,” he said during the ceremony.
The planned subway will be 40 metres in length, 3 metres in height, and 3.5 metres wide. It will also be equipped with lifts at both entry and exit points for tccessibility for specially-abled persons. According to NDMC, the subway is estimated to cost around ₹1.90 crore and will be completed within four months.
The museum redevelopment project, including the subway, is to cost o21.67 crore. Mr. Chandra added that once complete, the facility will stand as a landmark of cultural and historical value in the city. Published - September 18, 2025 10:19 pm IST
