Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday directed officials to draw up a plan to install pink toilets for women in the markets of Old Delhi.
Ms. Gupta gave the instruction while chairing a meeting on the development of Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. The meeting was attended by Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, along with MLAs, councillors, and senior officials from concerned departments. She also directed officials to address encroachment and traffic congestion across Assembly segments.
The government is appointing a Minister for the development of each Lok Sabha constituency and the CM has assumed the role of Minister in-charge of the Chandni Chowk constituency, the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Ms. Gupta said problems of encroachment and persistent traffic congestion in areas like Chandni Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Sadar Bazaar are causing serious inconvenience to residents and traders.
She also added there should be better coordination between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police, Delhi Jal Board, and other agencies to devise effective solutions for road management and excavation works for water pipelines.
