Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the devastation caused by floods in Punjab and sought a comprehensive relief package.
In a letter dated September 16, Mr. Gandhi said the interim relief of ₹1,600 crore announced by the Centre does “grave injustice” to the people of Punjab. “Estimates suggest that the State has suffered a loss of at least ₹20,000 crore. This crisis demands a bolder response. I request the government to facilitate a quick assessment of the damage and deliver a comprehensive relief package,” Mr. Gandhi said in his letter, shared by the Congress on Wednesday (September 17, 2025).
