Collector P. Akash has urged the public to exercise caution while using the road near Thittacheri bus stand, where pipeline-laying work for the combined drinking water scheme will be carried out from September 16-24.
The scheme, covering 980 rural habitations, involves laying a 700-mm main pipeline from Thirumarugal pumping station to Orathur. While 90% of the work is complete, the remaining 721 metres pass through a narrow stretch near the bus stand.
The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board will complete the work at night. Safety signage and barricades are in place, he said.
