Secretary of Defense/War Pete Hegseth had an awkward moment in the Oval Office on Monday when he stumbled over his department’s new secondary title, with President Donald Trump nearby.

“From day one, the DOD. Excuse me, DOW. The Department of War,” the former Fox News personality said, prompting chuckles from around the room.

Of course, referring to the department as being of both defense and war is correct in that Trump has only deemed it the Department of War as a secondary name, because an act of Congress is required for an official renaming.

Trump, though, lapped up Hegseth’s apology and then quipped, “I’m glad you made that correction,” which prompted more laughter from onlookers.
