Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) said a “liberal approach” to deportation processes should be adopted to ensure a mechanism for deporting criminals, particularly those involved in narcotics trade. He said that the time has come to bring those running narcotics trades from abroad under the ambit of Indian law.
Pointing out the work done by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Minister urged Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) heads of States to coordinate with the CBI Director and establish a robust extradition system that is effective not only against drugs but also against terrorism and gang-related offences.
